Two-time NBA champion Dillon Jones has agreed to an Exhibit 10 training camp contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported on Tuesday. The 24-year-old will join the Sixers' training camp roster later this month as he attempts to secure a spot on the team.
Jones has experienced an unusual journey through the NBA since entering the league. Selected 25th overall by the New York Knicks in the 2024 draft, his rights were immediately traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder on draft night. Despite limited playing time during his rookie campaign, Jones earned his first championship ring as a member of the 2024-25 Thunder squad.
Following that championship season, the Thunder moved Jones to the Washington Wizards in a salary dump to accommodate new draft selections. After being waived by Washington, he signed a two-way contract with the Knicks midway through the 2025-26 season. With New York, Jones appeared in seven games totaling 39 minutes of action before spending the entire playoff run in street clothes.
Despite his minimal on-court contribution, Knicks head coach Mike Brown revealed that Jones played a valuable mentorship role during the championship campaign. Brown consulted with Jones about championship experience as the team progressed through the playoffs, and Jones reportedly suggested showing players their reactions after the Eastern Conference Finals loss to the Pacers as motivation.
Jones now faces stiff competition in Philadelphia's training camp. The Sixers have 20 players confirmed for camp, with only one standard roster spot and two two-way positions available. He will compete against players including Tacko Fall and Jameer Nelson Jr. for those limited openings.
Should Jones make Philadelphia's roster in any capacity, he would reunite with former teammate Ariel Hukporti on October 20 when the Knicks distribute championship rings on opening night. Both players would receive their rings alongside the rest of the championship squad despite no longer being with the organization.
