Crysencio Summerville has described his transfer to Al-Hilal as a genuine rollercoaster, officially completing a move to the Saudi Pro League giants on a four-year contract running until June 2030, following a frantic conclusion to his West Ham exit.
Speaking to his new club's media channels, Summerville expressed pride at joining what he called the biggest club in the Saudi Pro League, saying simply that he has big ambitions and hopes to win every trophy on offer.
Al-Hilal's financial muscle ultimately overwhelmed European competition late in the window, with both Roma and Manchester United having explored a move before Roma's concrete £39 million bid was rejected by West Ham. Al-Hilal instead tabled a package worth up to £60 million including add-ons, making Summerville the third most expensive departure in West Ham's history, while reportedly securing him up to €17 million per year after tax across a total deal worth €68 million.
The winger's rising valuation was fuelled directly by a breakout World Cup campaign for the Netherlands, in which he scored twice and proved a consistently dangerous outlet on the left wing, before his tournament ended when Yassine Bounou saved his decisive penalty in Morocco's round of 32 win. He now joins a star-studded Al-Hilal dressing room under Simone Inzaghi, lining up alongside Bounou, Karim Benzema, Ruben Neves, Darwin Nunez, Joao Cancelo and Theo Hernandez. The fee ranks as the third-highest in Saudi Pro League history, behind only Neymar's 2023 move from PSG and Jhon Duran's switch from Aston Villa to Al-Nassr last year.
